Bright Flowers Pop Up Card Tutorial

Bright Flowers Pop Up Card Tutorial

Create a stunning pop-up card that's perfect for Mother's Day, to say thinking of you, or just because. This Bright Flowers Pop Up Card folds flat to fit in an envelope and bursts with a colorful bloom when opened.

What You'll Need

  • Bright Flowers Pop Up Card SVG or DXF cut files
  • Cutting machine
  • Cardstock for the card base
  • Colorful paper or cardstock for flowers and leaves
  • Fine-tip glue
  • Toothpick

Step 1: Front & Back of Card

Glue the rectangles to the front and back of the card. While these are decorative, they also strengthen the card for the pop up pieces. Add the "Thinking of You" or "Happy Mother's Day" message and any desired embellishments.

Step 2: Create the Flowers

Start by folding along each score line on your flower pieces. Overlap the two end petals and glue them together to form the flower shape.

Add a small dot of glue to the center of a stamen piece, then use a toothpick to gently poke it down into the center of the open flower. Fold the flower flat and set aside.

Step 3: Assemble the Pop-Up Flower Piece

Number the flower petals as shown.

Flip piece "1-2-3" over and place a star on the center petal—this will help you identify which side goes where later.

Follow these gluing steps carefully, using only a small dot of glue on the petal tip:

  1. Start with piece "1-2-3"
  2. Add glue to the tip of petal 1 and place petal 6 on top
  3. Add glue to the tip of petal 3 and place petal 7 on top
  4. Add glue to the tips of petals 6, 2, and 7, then place petals 10, 11, and 12 on top
  5. Add glue to the tips of petals 4, 5, and 10, then place petals 13, 14, and 15 on top
  6. Add glue to the tips of petals 12, 8, and 9, then place petals 16, 17, and 18 on top
  7. Add glue to the tips of petals 15, 11, and 16, then place petals 19, 20, and 21 on top

Step 4: Glue the Pop-Up Piece in Your Card

Open your card and position the flower piece so the edges of petals 13 and 18 align with the center fold line. Apply a small amount of glue to the very tip of petal 20 and close the card.

Flip the card over, open it again, and add glue to the tip of the petal marked with the star. Close the card and place something heavy on it to hold it closed while the glue dries completely.

Step 5: Add the Leaves

While you wait for the glue to dry, fold your leaf pieces slightly along their center score lines.

When the glue is dry, open the card. Arrange the leaves around the flowers by adding small amounts of glue to each stem and attaching the stem to the underside of the flower petals. Make sure all leaves stay tucked inside when the card is closed—if any stick out, reposition them.
